Good Samaritan: Jim Roth

At Good Neighbor Pantry (GNP) in Sikeston, a food pantry operated by Southeast Missouri Food Bank, there is a weekly volunteer, Jim Roth, who is always cheerful and positive. He is also a client who receives food from the Pantry. One day he "got to thinking that I could volunteer and give back instead of just taking." Jim volunteers weekly and says that volunteering "gives him more than what he gets." Jim recently used his mechanical skills to fix up a shopping cart for thePantry. This cart cannot help but grab your attention. Jim added bigger wheels so that the cart can be pushed across the gravel and dirt to the dumpster. Previously, staff would have to make multiple trips to the dumpster, but now the "souped-up" shopping cart can be loaded and easily .

Jim Roth is a great role model with his wanting to give back attitude.
