Progress 2013: From the editor

Dear reader,

Within this year's Progress edition, you'll see undeniable evidence of the tremendous work and growth being seen in our region.

Whether private investments or public projects, you won't be able to turn a page without seeing it.

Shovels turning dirt.

Scissors cutting ribbons.

Buildings going up.

Picture after picture, a thousand words at a time, piece together a story of Cape Girardeau moving forward.

Number by number, word by word, you'll find evidence of work and improvement. You'll see thought put into action. You'll see risk being rewarded. You'll see a community pulling itself out of a national economic mud pit.

It's amazing the amount of work accomplished in Cape Girardeau in 2012.

But the visible work is only the iceberg's tip. So much is being done as new businesses start, young ones leap and big ones grow. Throughout this section, you'll get a sneak peek into some of our advertisers' worlds. Business owners and managers share with us what they accomplished last year and what lies ahead.

We hope you find this year's Progress as confirmation that Cape Girardeau is a thriving community. We hope you find it informative and encouraging.

All my best,

Bob Miller
