Antique cars

For some golf is a hobby. Others enjoy music or writing. And then there are folks who have a passion for classic cars. For one local car club, 2013 represents a milestone.

The Capaha Antique Car Club is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. A story in Sunday's Good Times section will highlight the group and some of its activities. You'll enjoy the photos by Southeast Missourian photographer Adam Vogler. A gallery can be found at semissourian.com/multimedia.

The car club's members travel to shows and parades around the country throughout the year and host a few events locally. One of those events will be held Sunday at Arena Park.

The group's annual swap meet presents an opportunity for enthusiasts to visit with others with similar passions and find new and used parts from vendors. Fifty vendors will be set up inside the Arena Building where admission is $1. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to charity. Another 250 vendors will be set up outside. Other events will be held locally later this year.

Congratulations to the club on 50 years. We look forward to the swap meet and the other festivities to come.
