High school roundup: Poplar Bluff nips Scott City boys basketball team

Ryan Brock scored a game-high 34 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for the Scott City boys basketball team, but the Rams were not able to hold a lead inside the final 90 seconds in a 63-62 loss at home to Poplar Bluff.

The Rams (13-10) led 55-53 with 1 minute, 28 seconds remaining and had possession, but the Mules stole the ball and were fouled. They hit both free throws to tie the game. Scott City was then hit with a technical foul on the ensuing inbound play when it tried to call timeout with no timeouts remaining.

Poplar Bluff held on by hitting 8 of 10 free throws down the stretch.

Ryan Fortner added 13 points for Scott City (13-10), while Jonathan McFall had 12 rebounds.

Ryan Brittingham and Brandon Stuckenschneider netted 11 points apiece for the Mules (14-5).
