High school roundup: Bernie defeats Advance in SCAA tournament title game

David Baker scored a game-high 29 points to help the top-seeded Mules clinch the championship of the Stoddard County Activities Association (SCAA) Conference Tournament on Friday night with a 54-43 victory over Advance at Bloomfield High School.

Sam Turner added nine points, all from the 3-point line, for Bernie (17-3).

Lane Below led the third-seeded Hornets (14-6) with 19 points, while Ethan Barr contributed 16 points.

Advance reached the championship match after knocking off second-seeded Dexter 86-59 on Thursday night. The Bearcats went on to edge fourth-seeded Bloomfield 40-37 for third place.

Shelby Beussink tallied 11 points and four steals for Notre Dame (14-3). Miranda Fowler recorded seven rebounds and Karsen Powers dished out four assists in the win.

Tayler Miller had a game-high 25 points to pace the Panthers (12-7).
