Saxony Lutheran's Brianna Mueller used a consistent scoring touch to lead the streaking Crusaders to the championship of the Delta New Years Tournament last week.

Mueller, who is among the strong freshman crop at Saxony, led the Crusaders' scoring attack in all three games of the tournament. She scored 19 points in a rout of Puxico in the first round, added 17 points against Meadow Heights in the semifinals and finished with 16 points in a 70-36 win against Woodland in Saturday's championship game.

"She's been playing well -- I'd say pretty consistent about every game we've had," Saxony coach Sam Sides said. "She had a good tournament down there for sure."

At 5-foot-7, Mueller is able to play both guard and forward, and her versatility is reflected in her season numbers. She averages a team-high 12.3 points, 4.3 assists and 4.2 steals per game. She's also among the team's top rebounders.

"She can create her own shot and shoot the 3, and is a pretty good free-throw shooter," Sides said. "She's been getting some steals and rebounds. She does a little bit of everything pretty well. She's really been a big asset for us."

The top-seeded Crusaders (11-1) extended their winning streak to seven games in winning their second tournament title of the season. Saxony previously had won the Kelso Supply Holiday Classic Tournament at the Show Me Center.
