Former Cape Girardeau mayor to serve on SEMO regents board

Jay Knudtson, banker and former mayor of Cape Girardeau, has been named to a six-year term on the Southeast Missouri State University Board of Regents.

Knudtson, executive vice president at First Missouri State Bank, was appointed by Gov. Jay Nixon to fill the vacancy created by the departure of James Limbaugh, whose term expired Tuesday.

Knudtson, a Republican, was chairman of the Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Board from 1995 to 2001, and served as mayor from 2002 to 2010.

He received the Vandiver Show Me State Award from Southeast in 2006.
