High school roundup: Scott County boys, girls sweep Delta

A big first half paid big dividends for the Scott County Central boys basketball team.

Jaylen Porter led four players in double figures with 19 points as the Braves rolled past Delta 88-64 Monday night.

The Braves scored 31 points in each the first and second quarters to open a 62-25 halftime lead.

"They just got off to a big first half," Delta coach Jimmy Johnson said. "We played better in the second half after the game was decided."

Tyler Masters had 16 points for SCC while Larandis Banks and Chris Brown each added 15.

Dillon Lincoln topped Delta (0-7) with 24 points and Tanner Schabbing had 21.

Mikaela Blissett paced four scorers in double figures with 22 points for the visiting Braves.

"They were able to pressure us and create a lot of turnovers," Delta coach Gary Poyner said.

Johniqua Fort and Abby Ross added 18 points each, while Derien Ditto chipped in 13.

Machela VanGennip led the Bobcats (1-6) with 13 points.

Lindsay Shell added eight points for Woodland (7-1).
