Monday letter clarification: Emerson and pension

EDITOR'S NOTE: A letter to the editor in Monday's Southeast Missourian suggested that U.S. Rep. Jo Ann Emerson will see an increase in her retirement benefits once she is sworn in for a ninth term in the U.S. House of Representatives. Retirement for members of Congress, like all other federal government employees, is based on incremental time of service and is not tied to the number of terms served.
