Lady Tiger Softball wins District Championship

Although they entered the season seeded sixth, when the Cape Central High School Lady Tiger Softball Team finished their season, they had defeated Hillsboro, seeded number three; Jackson, seeded number two; and Farmington, seeded number one. The team also managed to defeat all three of their district opponents with a combined score of 32-11. The last District Championship Title in Softball was in 2003, and with the majority of this year's team returning for next year, Principal Dr. Mike Cowan said, "We believe the future is brighter than ever for Lady Tiger Softball at Cape Central." Cowan praised not only the team members but also recognized Head Coach Amy Blattel, now in her fourteenth season as head softball coach, and Assistant Coach Jessica McDonald, now in her fifth season. Coach McDonald is also an alumnus of Cape Central Softball and was a member of the first-ever District Championship Softball Team in 2000, playing under Coach Blattel.
