KELSO, Mo. -- Sylvester August Welter, 82, of Kelso died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at Fountainbleau Lodge in Cape Girardeau.
He was born April 24, 1930, in Benton, Mo., to Andrew John and Mary Katherine LeDure Welter.
Welter was a shoe cutter 32 years at Florsheim Shoe Co. in Cape Girardeau.
He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church of Kelso, Knights of Columbus St. Vincent Council 1111 in Cape Girardeau, 4th-Degree member of Thomas A. Langen Assembly 0568 and a lifelong member of Cape Girardeau VFW post 3838.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was an avid euchre card player.
Survivors include three sisters, Revella Schlosser of Scott City, a twin sister, Celeste Steimle, and Zeta Welter of Kelso.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Arnold and Leon; and a sister, Betty Kluesner.
Friends may call from 8 a.m. until time of service Saturday at St. Augustine Church. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m., followed by Knights of Columbus rosary at 7:15 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Oliver Clavin as celebrant.
Burial will be in St. Augustine Cemetery with full military honors.
