The deadline to register to vote in Missouri for the Nov. 6 general election is coming up. Signed voter registration applications must be delivered or postmarked by 5 p.m. Wednesday to vote in the general election, Cape Girardeau County Clerk Kara Clark Summers said in a news release Friday. The county clerk's offices at 44 N. Lorimier St. in Cape Girardeau and 1 Barton Square in Jackson will be open until 5 p.m. Wednesday. To be eligible to vote, residents must be 18 years old or older by election day, be a United States citizen and Missouri resident. Residents must submit a completed voter registration application to their local election authority in person or by mail. A voter may register in person at the local election authority, a driver's licensing office or at a designated state agency. Applications are available at the Cape Girardeau Public Library or Riverside Regional Library. Applicants are required to present a personal identification. Registered voters who have moved or changed names since the last time they voted should contact the county clerk's office to update their information as soon as possible before Nov. 6. A voter can also register to vote by mail by completing a post card voter registration application that can be requested from the local election authority or from the county clerk's website, www.capecounty.us.
