A campaign event for U.S. Rep. Todd Akin planned in Cape Girardeau on Tuesday will feature conservative activists Phyllis Schlafly, Dick Bott and David Lane.

Akin, a six-term Republican member of the House of Representatives, is challenging Democrat incumbent Claire McCaskill for her U.S. Senate seat. Akin and and other conservatives are making stops throughout the state this week on a "Missouri Common Sense Bus Tour."

Akin and the others will speak at the Osage Centre at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. The event is open to the public.
