Real Basic Instincts camps: Real Baseball Instincts in Jackson is offering fall hitting camps featuring St. Louis Cardinals minor leaguer Jeremy Patton, a Southeast Missouri native. Southeast coaches clinic: The Southeast Missouri State men's basketball program will hold its annual coaches clinic Oct. 6. The clinic is open to coaches on all levels and fans age 18 and over. SIU Carbondale coach Barry Hinson, Memphis Grizzlies director of player personnel Tony Barone Sr. and recently retired John A. Logan (Ill.) College coach Mark Imhoff will be the guest speakers. Women's breakfast: The Southeast Missouri State women's basketball team and the Hoop Troop, a new support group for the program, have partnered with My Daddy's Cheesecake to host a free monthly breakfast with the Redhawks this season. Beginning Oct. 4 at 7 a.m., Southeast coach Ty Margenthaler, along with other team representatives, welcome all Redhawk fans to start their day at My Daddy's Cheesecake (265 S. Broadview in Cape Girardeau) and get updated on the women's basketball program. Fans in attendance will receive free coffee and breakfast. This event will run on the first Thursday of each month until the end of the women's basketball season in March. The other dates are Nov. 1, Dec. 6, Jan. 3, Feb. 7 and March 7.


Joe Uhls tournament: The Southeast Missouri State baseball program will hold its eighth annual Joe Uhls golf tournament Sept. 28 at Bent Creek Golf Course in Jackson. The four-person scramble will feature three flights and begin at 12:30 p.m. following lunch at 11:15 a.m. Cost: $200 per player, which includes Redhawks apparel, meal, refreshments and practice balls. Benefit Golf Tournament: The Community Counseling Center Foundation will host its 13th annual Benefit Golf Tournament on Oct. 5 at Cape Girardeau Country Club. River Hills Run/Walk: The 30th annual River Hills Run/Walk will be Saturday in conjunction with the East Perry Fair. The event is a 4.3 mile run/walk from Wittenberg to Altenburg. All participants turning in $25 or more in donations will receive a T-shirt. Proceeds will benefit "My Camp." Those interested in participating should be at the Altenburg fairgrounds stage by 8:45 a.m. the day of the run. Info: 824-5113.

Redhawks Run: The inaugural River Eagle Redhawks Run will be Oct. 13. The 5K race from Houck Stadium starts at 2:30 p.m. with registration beginning at 1:30 p.m. Participants receive a ticket to that night's Southeast Missouri State football game against Tennessee State, a Nike Dri-Fit T-shirt and a chance to create a fan tunnel for the Redhawks' entry onto the field. There is a finish line tailgate party with free food and beverages. Cost is $30. In addition to the 5K run, there is a 1-mile scholarship walk available for $20. Bootheel Counseling run/walk: The Bootheel Counseling Services will hold it Goblin Gallop, a 5K/1-mile run and walk Oct. 27 in Sikeston, Mo. The race will start at the Bootheel Counseling Services at 760 Plantation Blvd. Entry fee for the 5K is $20 before Oct. 12 and $25 after. Entry fee is $15 for 1-mile run/walk.
