A Jackson man remained in critical condition at a local hospital after his motorcycle accident on Interstate 55 near Cape Girardeau on Saturday, police said.
Cape Girardeau Police Department spokesman Darin Hickey said that, as of Wednesday, the man's condition had remained unchanged. Authorities have yet to release the man's name, Hickey said, until they get consent from the family. The accident took place after the man's motorcycle was rear-ended just north of the 100 mile marker on southbound I-55.
Around 4 p.m. a Toyota Highlander struck the back of the Yamaha V-Star motorcycle, police said. It is undetermined how the accident happened and it remains under investigation. The driver of the motorcycle sustained life-threatening injuries while the driver of the Highlander was not injured.
