Mississippi County woman charged with fracturing infant's skull

CHARLESTON, Mo. -- A Bertrand, Mo., woman will be arraigned today in connection with an alleged assault that left an infant with a fractured skull, the Standard Democrat reported. Maria Foy, 27, is scheduled to appear at 9:15 a.m. before Associate Judge T. Lynn Brown on a charge of first-degree assault. Foy was arrested Aug. 24 following an investigation led by Mississippi County Sheriff Keith Moore and deputy Janice McCameron. According to Moore, the child, who was 2 weeks old at the time of the incident, suffered a skull fracture. The child is now recovering, authorities said. Foy was being held in the Mississippi County Detention Center. Bond is set at $100,000 cash or surety.
