Notre Dame softball team wins 3-1 in eight innings

Notre Dame scored two runs in the top of the eighth to defeat host De Soto in high school softball action Monday.

Nikki Peters pitched all eight innings for the win. She allowed three hits and struck out two.

Tiffany Woods, Brandi Glastetter and Maria Layton all had doubles for Notre Dame (2-1), while Kayce Landewee went 2 for 4.

The Pirates managed six hits but were shut out at home.

Aleshia Reiss went 2 for 3 for Perryville (1-6), while Kelcie Fahnestock took the loss on the mound.

Perryville visits Sikeston today.

Ciara Coomer went 3 for 5 with two doubles and struck out 10 batters in a road win for Delta (1-2).

Machela VanGennip also went 3 for 5 with a double, while Rachel Birkman and Jenna Henson each connected for a double.

Mollie Crader went 2 for 4 with an RBI in the Indians' loss at home.

Farmington broke a 2-2 tie with two runs in the fifth inning.

Mallory Jones took the loss in the circle.

The Indians (1-2) and will host Central on Wednesday.

Steck went 2 for 4 at the plate with a triple. Ashlynn Collier went 4 for 5 with two doubles, while Grace Mirly had a double among her three hits. Tayla Meyer added two hits and a double.

Jackson's Jackie McNally notched a 6-1, 7-5 win at No. 2 singles, while Montana Adams won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3.

The Indians face Sikeston on the road today.

The Bulldogs lost by two strokes to Farmington at Crown Pointe Golf Club in Farmington, Mo.

Morgan Schumer shot a 41 to lead the Bulldogs.
