3rd-grader's art work displayed at Washington D. C

Eight-year-old Tramia Lockridge apparently has the "artist touch," because her work is hanging at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Library in Washington D.C. this month, and soon will be on the cover ShowMe Art magazine, a publication of the Missouri Art Education Association.

Submitted to a national contest called "All Kids Can Create" by her Franklin Elementary art teacher, "The Rainforest" was selected from 3000 entries from all 50 states. Only 2 students from each state were selected to exhibit. Tramia, a 2nd-grader when she created "The Rainforest, is pictured with her water-color-on-canvas piece. Tramia is the daughter of Lydia Lockridge. Franklin Art Teacher Kim Holman beamed, "We are absolutely thrilled for Tramia. She is a great kid and she is going to go far in whatever she chooses to do."
