Camps

Central Junior High camp: The Central Junior High will hold a football camp at the school. It will run from 9 to 11 a.m. July 23 to 26. There is no cost. Info: 651-6246.

Notre Dame camp: Notre Dame coaches will hold a wrestling camp for grades 4 to 8 that will run from 2 to 4 p.m. July 23 to 27. Cost: $50. Info: 335-6772.

Mean Machine football camp: The annual Mean Machine football camp will run from July 23 to 28 at the Central Junior High. It is open to players grades 3 to 6. It will run from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. July 23 to 27 and 10 a.m. to noon July 28. Southeast Missouri State football coach Tony Samuel and his players will assist with the camp. Cost: $5. Perryville football camp: Perryville High School football coach Mike Wojtczuk will host a camp for players in grades 7 to 12 interested in playing football in the fall. The camp for players entering grades 7 and 8 will run from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today to Friday. The two-week camp for players entering grades 9 to 12 will run from 5 to 8:30 p.m. It will go Monday through Friday from today to July 27. Info: Mike Wojtczuk, 547-7500, ext. 461.

Golf

First Tee: The First Tee, an international organization that uses golf to teach life skills, is seeking volunteers and participants for an eight-week session in Cape Girardeau. The dates for the session have not been determined. The session is open to boys and girls ages 7 to 17, and all equipment is provided. RSVP/VIC tournament: The 14th annual Retired Senior Volunteer Program Volunteer Intergenerational Center golf tournament will be Friday at the Cape Girardeau Jaycee Municipal Golf Course. The four-person scramble will start at 1 p.m. The tournament is limited to 25 teams. Cost: $75 per person, which includes lunch at noon. Info: 335-7555 or 887-3664.

Food Bank tournament: The Southeast Missouri Food Bank's Full Course Golf Classic will take place Aug. 6 at Dalhousie Golf Club. Lunch starts at noon, and the four-scramble begins with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Cost: $125 per person, which includes a cart and lunch. Info: 651-0400.

Tribal Council tournament: The Jackson Tribal Council Booster Club will hold its annual four-person scramble golf tournament July 27 at Kimbeland Country Club. Lunch begins at noon with a 1 p.m. tee time. Cost: $90. Info: Wayne Turley, 243-5168.

Miscellaneous

Sports physicals: Summer sports physicals will be offered at the Central Junior High from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday. Athletes must have a parent's signature on the physical form. Cost: $20. Info: 651-6246.

Running

Jackson cross country camps: Jackson High School, Jackson Junior High and Jackson Intermediate School will hold a free cross country camp for boys and girls entering grades 6 to 12. The camp will meet at the pavilion near the upper tennis courts at Jackson City Park from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today to Friday. Info: Andrea Talley, 275-0976.

Tennis

Youth league: There will be a tennis league for youths from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturdays. Participation is on a drop-in bases and is free to players. Info: Donna Ryan, 332-1614.
