Central Junior High camps: The Central Junior High will hold camps during the summer at the school. The wrestling camp will run from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday to July 13. The football camp will run from 9 to 11 a.m. July 23 to 26. Both camps are free. Info on any camp: 651-6246.
Notre Dame camps: Notre Dame coaches will hold a variety of camps at the high school. A boys basketball camp for kindergarten and first-graders will run from 8 to 9 a.m. Monday to July 13. Cost: $60. A boys basketball camp for grades 2 to 4 will run from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday to July 13. Cost: $70. A boys basketball camp for grades 5 to 8 will run from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday to July 13. Cost: $70. Saxony Lutheran girls basketball camps: Saxony Lutheran girls basketball coach Sam Sides will hold camps at the high school Monday to Thursday. First Tee: The First Tee, an international organization that uses golf to teach life skills, is seeking volunteers and participants for an eight-week session in Cape Girardeau. The dates for the session have not been determined. The session is open to boys and girls ages 7 to 17, and all equipment is provided. RSVP/VIC tournament: The 14th annual Retired Senior Volunteer Program Volunteer Intergenerational Center golf tournament will be July 20 at the Cape Girardeau Jaycee Municipal Golf Course. Jackson cross country camps: Jackson High School, Jackson Junior High and Jackson Intermediate School will hold a free cross country camp for boys and girls entering grades 6 to 12. Special Olympics tournament: The Southeast Area Special Olympics will host the 14th annual Special Olympics area softball tournament Saturday at Shawnee Park Sports Complex. Opening ceremonies begin at 10 a.m., and competition is expected to end around 10 p.m. Approximately 18 teams will participate.
