MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Gerald L. Stevens, 72, of Marble Hill, formerly of Cape Girardeau, passed away Friday, June 29, 2012, at Saint Francis Medical Center.
Gerald was born Dec. 8, 1939, in Cape Girardeau, to Charles M. and Glenda A. Bridges Stevens.
He was a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University with a bachelor's degree in business administration.
Gerald married Shirley A. Hahn on Aug. 16, 1959, in De Soto, Mo.
He was vice president of Colonial Federal Savings & Loan from 1967 to 1989. He was the owner/operator of H&R Block Tax Service in Perryville, Mo., and Ste. Genevieve, Mo., from 1992 to present. He was an enrolled agent with the IRS.
Gerald was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau. He was a former member of the Cape Girardeau Jaycees and the Cape Girardeau Optimist Club.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Stevens of Marble Hill; two daughters, Lee Ann Van Tine of Fenton, Mo., and Susan (Billy) Coleman of Cape Girardeau; four grandchildren, Sirena Watkins, Steven Watkins, Zachariah Watkins and Olivia Van Tine; and two brothers, Ron Stevens of Birmingham, Ala., and Don Stevens of Patton, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Harold Stevens.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Centenary United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Karen Nothdurft and the Rev. James Sanderson officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
