Area calendar 6/27/12
Southeast camps: Southeast Missouri State will hold a variety of sports camps. Camps offered will be for baseball, men's and women's basketball, football, gymnastics, soccer, softball and volleyball. Central Junior High camps: The Central Junior High will hold camps during the summer at the school. The wrestling camp will run from 9 to 11 a.m. July 9 to 13. The football camp will run from 9 to 11 a.m. July 23 to 26. All the camps are free. Info on any camp: 651-6246.
Notre Dame camps: Notre Dame coaches will hold a variety of camps at the high school. A boys basketball camp for kindergarten and first-graders will run from 8 to 9 a.m. July 9 to 13. Cost: $60. A boys basketball camp for grades 2 to 4 will run from 9 to 11 a.m. July 9 to 13. Cost: $70. A boys basketball camp for grades 5 to 8 will run from 1 to 3 p.m. July 9 to 13. Cost: $70. Saxony Lutheran girls basketball camps: Saxony Lutheran girls basketball coach Sam Sides will hold camps at the high school July 9 to 12. The camp for girls entering grades 4 to 8 will go from 4 to 5:30 p.m., while girls entering grades 9 to 12 will go from 6 to 8 p.m. Cost: $45. Info: Sam Sides, 204-7555.
First Tee: The First Tee, an international organization that uses golf to teach life skills, is seeking volunteers and participants for an eight-week session in Cape Girardeau. The dates for the session have not been determined. The session is open to boys and girls ages 7 to 17, and all equipment is provided. RSVP/VIC tournament: The 14th annual Retired Senior Volunteer Program Volunteer Intergenerational Center golf tournament will be July 20 at the Cape Girardeau Jaycee Municipal Golf Course. Jackson cross country camps: Jackson High School, Jackson Junior High and Jackson Intermediate School will hold a free cross country camp for boys and girls entering grades 6 to 12.
