CHARLESTON, Mo. -- Robert Morgan, 80, of Charleston died Friday, June 1, 2012, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born June 17, 1931, at Datto, Ark., to Clarence Everett and Pearl Elizabeth Fears Morgan. He and Donna Reeves were married May 27, 1955.
Morgan lived most of his life in rural Charleston. A member of Tanner Street Church of God in Sikeston, Mo., he was a good Christian and strewed goodness wherever he went.
He was a retired farmer who had a great feel for the land. Gardening was an essential part of Robert's life, not unlike a hobby. He colored his world of gardening with beautiful flowers. Robert loved his family and fellow man.
Survivors include his wife; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert Neal and Cheryl Morgan of Charleston; two daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Charlie Butler of Diehlstadt, Mo., Beverly and Mike Stash of Sikeston; a brother, Floyd Morgan of Gorham, Ill.; three sisters, Mary Bonifield, Vena Daughhetee and Dorothy McDowell, all of Charleston; five grandchildren; two great-grandsons; and seven stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles Morgan, Murlyn Morgan, Warren Morgan; and two sisters, Lela Guthrey and Nellie Gage.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with John Neely, pastor of Tanner Street Church of God, officiating. Interment will be in IOOF Cemetery near Charleston.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Butler, Justin Butler, Bobby Morgan, Michael Stash, Danny Babb and Brent Peters.
