Francis Arnold Grojean, 82, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at Saint Francis Medical Center.
He was born June 30, 1929, in New Hamburg, Mo., to Theon K. and Ida Menz Grojean. He and Lucille Diebold were married May 21, 1955, at Kelso, Mo.
Francis was a graduate of Benton High School and received a bachelor of science in individual studies from Columbia College.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1947 to 1950. He then made a career with Missouri National Guard 41 years as an administrative assistant and chief warrant officer.
Francis was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Friends of Saint Francis and Cape Chapter of Retired National Guardsmen.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille Grojean of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Karen Welker (Daniel) and Linda Farrow of Cape Girardeau; two sons, Richard Grojean (Laurie) of Chesterfield, Mo., Stephen Grojean (Michelle) of St. Charles, Mo.; two sisters, Sybilla Cresap of Advance, Mo., Rita Staebel of Kelso; 11 grandchildren, Ryan, Andrew and Emily Welker, Eric and Nathan Farrow, Justin (Amy), Alexander, Andrea and Blake Grojean, Meghan and Bridget Grojean; and a great-granddaughter, Alyssa Grojean.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles and Theon Grojean; five sisters, Rose Heisserer, Bertha Schwartz, Caroline Grojean, Corona Kelpe and Marie Clinton.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. Parish prayers will be at 7.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Vincent de Paul Church, with the Rev. David Hulshof officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, with full military rites provided by Missouri Honors Team.
