Golf tournament benefits Perryville athletics

There's still time to sign up for the annual Pirate Athletic Club Golf Tournament, which funds many projects for the athletic programs at the Perry County School District 32.

PAC will host its annual fundraising golf outing on Friday, June 8. Tee times are 7 am and 12:15 pm at Perryville Country Club. The 4-person scramble registration is $75 per person or $300 per team. Registration includes lunch, beverages and evening meal at the country club. Register by Friday, June 1 by calling Arlene Breig at 73-7500, dial 8 and then extension 343. Or visit www.perryville.k12.mo.us/Page/2647.

Perryville High School athletic director Jeff Steffens said that PAC's support makes it possible for the school to provide more athletic programs to more students than the district budget would allow.

"Safety and training equipment is expensive," Steffens said. "PAC steps in where our budget falls short. If we don't have the proper safety equipment, we can't offer that program, no matter how many students are interested. PAC organizes the volunteers for our concession stands and hosts this fundraising golf tournament to provide funding for all sports programs in the district.

"Most recently, PAC donated $10,000 to update the weight room that's used by all of our athletes," Steffens said. "A lot of that money comes from the golf tournaments, so we appreciate all of the community support we receive. We hope you'll gather a team and join us for a fun day."

Hole sponsorships are also available.

The deadline to register for the June 8 PAC Golf Outing is June 1. For more information, contact Steve Landholt at 573-547-8918 or Jeff Steffens at 573-547-7500, ext. 231. Download registration forms at www.perryville.k12.mo.us; choose Departments and select Athletics.
