Kennett police offer reward in arson probe
Friday, May 25, 2012
KENNETT, Mo. -- The Kennett Police Department has announced a cash reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in a recent string of arsons.
According to Kennett police chief Barry Tate, the reward is $500 and stems from a string of six arsons over the past couple months.
Tate said the fires occurred on Slicer Street, Fifth Street and Whitney Street, many of which are owned by the same person.
The police official said all of the properties were abandoned with no electricity, and were stripped of copper wire, leading authorities to believe the fires were set to cover up the theft.
Anyone with information on the fires should contact either the Kennett Police Department at 573-888-4622, or the Kennett Fire Department at 573-888-4512.
All information will remain confidential.
