Plenty to do

There's plenty to do this weekend. With the wonderful weather lately, outdoor activities will likely rank high on the list. Whether you check out an area sporting event, work in your garden, or catch one of the music events scheduled, there's no shortage of fun activities. Here are a few events you might consider:

* Tunes at Twilight returns tonight with Kevin Danzig the featured performer. Last week's season opener drew one of the largest crowds for the event with an estimated 600 to 700 in attendance. Today's performance starts at 7 p.m. at the Common Pleas Courthouse gazebo.

* On Saturday hundreds of volunteers will gather in Sikeston to participate in the second annual Hope Epidemic, an event organized by local United Methodist churches. In the morning the volunteers will do various acts of kindness.

At noon the Hope Fest will start at 1102 S. Main St. in Sikeston. In addition to a number of giveaways and free food, a few nationally recognized speakers will address the crowd. Speakers and entertainers include Korn founder Brian "Head" Welch, former Major League Baseball player Darryl Strawberry, rap artist JSon and local music group The Walker Bros. * Baseball returns to Capaha Field this weekend with the Southeast Missouri State Redhawks taking on SIU Edwardsville. After a rough start, the Redhawks are playing better and attempting to qualify for the upcoming conference tournament. Two games in the series remain with a 2 p.m. contest today and a 1 p.m. game Saturday. Saturday's game is also senior day.

* A plein-air art show will be held today, Saturday and Sunday at the Glenn House in Cape Girardeau. Shows start at 1 p.m. each day. Also at the Glenn House on Saturday and Sunday is the FANtastic Fundraiser.
