Ale Clifford Cato, 86, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, May 10, 2012, at Chateau Girardeau.
He was born July 9, 1925, at Greenbriar, Mo., to Lewis Wesley and Valley Mae Cato. He and Betty Eleanor Croy were married June 10, 1946. After her death March 30, 2008, he re-married Virginia Parker.
Mr. Cato joined the U.S. Navy on July 6, 1944, and was honorably discharged May 28, 1946, and was an honored veteran of World War II.
He worked for Missouri Department of Transportation as a resident engineer, and then retired from Dumey Contracting Inc. He was active in the American Legion.
Loving survivors include four daughters and three sons-in-law, Pamela and Tommy Horton of Dexter, Mo., Sandra Cato of Cape Girardeau, Janet and Lee Cornelius of Perryville, Mo., Amy and Greg Reynolds of McClure, Ill.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Truman Cato of Dexter; his wife, Virginia Parker; stepsons, Michael Parker of Sikeston, Mo., and Stephen Parker of Spearfish, S.D.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Betty E. Cato; parents, Lewis W. and Valley M. Cato; a brother, Dale Cato; and a great-granddaughter, Lillian Holden.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance, Mo.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Eric Shrum officiating. Interment will be in Morgan Memorial Park in Advance.
