High school roundup: Jackson soccer avenges loss to Notre Dame

Erin Eakens scored twice Monday to help the Jackson girls soccer team avenge one of its losses from earlier this season.

The Indians defeated host Notre Dame 4-1.

Tori Smith and Alexa Kelpe both added a goal and an assist for Jackson.

Taylor Rinda scored for Notre Dame.

Notre Dame defeated Jackson 1-0 on penalty kicks April 2.

BASEBALL

Notre Dame 7, NMCC 2

The Bulldogs scored two runs in each of the first three innings of a home win.

Cody Heisserer, Jesse Schott and Cambron Womack all had doubles for Notre Dame, which improved to 13-1.

Winning pitcher Justin Landewee allowed three hits over five innings to improve to 4-1. He struck out seven, walked three and both the runs he surrendered were unearned.

The Chaffee boys and girls teams raced to victory at the meet.

Kelly's Sam Ratledge won the 100, triple jump and long jump to lead the Hawks girls, who finished second.
