A Cure For Cape Celebrates 25 Years

American Cancer Society’s A Cure for Cape Annual Cancer Gala presented by Saint Francis Medical Center.

Cape Girardeau, MO -- With an enthusiastic committee revved up and planning the American Cancer Society's A Cure for Cape Annual Cancer Gala presented by Saint Francis Medical Center guests can look forward to an exciting evening. This year's planning committee has agreed on the event theme, "Lights. Camera. Cure!" The red carpet will be rolled out Saturday, August 25, at 6:00 PM at The Venue.

"We genuinely want to express our gratitude to local business who support the American Cancer Society," said Kelli Schenimann, Community Manager of Development. "Without the support of the community and volunteers, this event would be impossible. In 2011 the Gala raised over $99,000, with all proceeds going directly to support the American Cancer Society's mission of eliminating cancer as a major health concern."

The American Cancer Society urges local companies to take up the fight against cancer by becoming sponsors of the 25th Annual A Cure For Cape Cancer Gala. To purchase tickets or find out more about the A Cure for Cape Annual Cancer Gala contact your local American Cancer Society at 573-334-9352 or visit www.cureforcapegala.org.

About the American Cancer Society

The American Cancer Society combines an unyielding passion with nearly a century of experience to save lives and end suffering from cancer. As a global grassroots force of more than three million volunteers, we fight for every birthday threatened by every cancer in every community. We save lives by helping people stay well by preventing cancer or detecting it early; helping people get well by being there for them during and after a cancer diagnosis; by finding cures through investment in groundbreaking discovery; and by fighting back by rallying lawmakers to pass laws to defeat cancer and by rallying communities worldwide to join the fight. As the nation's largest non-governmental investor in cancer research, contributing about $3.4 billion, we turn what we know about cancer into what we do. As a result, more than 11 million people in America who have had cancer and countless more who have avoided it will be celebrating birthdays this year.
