Charleston fatal shooting investigated

CHARLESTON, Mo. -- An investigation is underway into a fatal shooting, the Standard Democrat reported. Charleston Public Safety director Robert E. Hearnes said his officers were called to 706 Grand Ave. at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday to investigate a shooting. At the scene they found the victim, Gregory Gary, 27, of Tacoma, Wash. According to Hearnes, Gary was pronounced dead at the scene. No further information was immediately available about a possible assailant. However, Hearnes asked that anyone with information about the crime contact the department at 573-683-3737. The Missouri State Highway Patrol is assisting in the investigation.
