CONGRATULATIONS to the business team from Southeast on its recent win at an international competition, a first by any U.S. school. This is proof that our university is graduating top-notch students capable of competing with the best in the world. How sad that this great accomplishment received only a short mention in our local paper on the very same day a former beauty pageant winner from China made the front page of Good Times.
I was listening to the news recently, and I wanted to hear what was going on. I got a long-distance call and missed the entire episode, and I called the station and some nice young woman very kindly explained what it was that I missed. I want her to know how much I appreciated her courtesy and her kindness to me. I thank her for her kindness.

Southeast competition....it wasn't mentioned because that would foil the local conservative myth that our schools are NOT graduating students of exceptional caliber.
Not really, Theorist. It is understood that there is always a minority of students - in spite of being subjected to the union-backed, government school system monopoly - that will rise to great heights no matter what the situation. They will be the leaders and successes in future years. The discussion you refer to concerns the majority of the students who go through the union-backed government school system monopoly and come out the other end with a dumbed down "education".
Remember when it used to be the other way around? That's what the discussion is about.
Business students: Way to go SEMO.

Theorist: I am confused about "local conservative myth". I think we all want the best for our kids, period.
Since all Fridays are good, today is a special Good Friday.
Hi Semo,
Did I spell that correctly?
Wheels & Rick: Sometimes I feel like I'm back in High School English class. She tried her best to teach us kids and I gave her grief for trying....guess that's why I try to write correctly in order to make amends (sometimes I fail).
It appears you spelled "that" correctly but I'm just a dumb ol' stump kickin' country boy tho...

Well good.... it appears like, with a little bit of help we can all improve.

Rick: Arcadia Valley is one of the best places in Missouri. We go to Elephant Rocks and Johnson's Shut-Ins every year.....God's country.
Wheels: Glad you are concentrating on your spelling and grammar, don't want to lower the standards of S.O. comments.
I try Semo471, Lord knows I try, but then I'm from Bollinger County you know. ;-)
Wheels: You have been gone long enough from Bollinger County to get civilized.
Full Moon tonight, that's how come Easter is this Sunday. Easter is the first Sunday after the first full moon in Spring.
"Wheels: You have been gone long enough from Bollinger County to get civilized."
Semo471,
There are those that would disagree with you.
Wheels nothing wrong with being from Bollinger County where freedom of speech can be exercised each day without being called out about it.
Rick & Swamp,
I believe that civilied carries a different definition depending on where you are. Had a sister in law and a brother in law who lived in Californi. During a visit once many years ago I was informed that Missouri was a good place to be "From".... and where they lived they were more sophisticated and had a little drinky poo before dinner each night.
Last time I saw him, after the divorce and him living in Georgia, he was drinking his scotch out of a water glass with the partially emptied scotch bottle setting on the floor next to his recliner within easy reach. No ice, no water needed. He died an alcoholic. She is still sophisticated and broke on the 'left coast'.
Guess I like being from Missouri, from SE Missouri and from Bollinger County in particular. I prefer real folks to sophisticated ones. Not saying the ancestors who located me here were the brightest... would have seemed like they could have found a better grade of rocks, but I like em just fine. Never had any desire to become a Californicator.
Rick,
Nothing wrong with the 'Bridges of Madison County' (Missouri) in my mind. Before I croak I want to explore a little more of that country west of the 'big road'.
Rick: My sister lived in Southern Calif. (now passed on) and visited there many times and agree that California is the land of the nuts, that's how come they call it Hollyweird.
Wheels: Liked the movie.
Semo471.
Me too!
Theorist, you're an idiot.
Theorist seems to have accumulated a 'Stalker'.... hmmmm.
