Municipal elections

Elections for city governing boards and school boards top the list for this municipal election day. And in Jackson and Oak Ridge, two ballot issues will also be decided by voters.

Oak Ridge voters are being asked whether to approve funds for facility improvements at the elementary main building and library wing. The total cost for the improvements was reported to be $1.5 million. Jackson voters will be asked to decide if the city needs a seventh elementary school. The total cost for the new school is said to be $16 million.

Voters will head to the polls two more times this year. Here are a few dates to keep in mind:

* July 11: Last day to register to vote for the August primary election.

* Aug. 7: Primary election.

* Oct. 10: Last day to register to vote for the November general election.

* Nov. 6: General election.
