High school roundup: Jackson sweeps own track meet

Jackson swept its own five-team track and field meet Wednesday.

The Indians girls team scored 124 points, while the boys netted 180 points.

Notre Dame was second in both divisions.

Blake Reimann paced the Indians with victories in the triple jump and high jump.

Notre Dame's Duncan Ross won the 800 and pole vault, while Saxony's Jeremy Engelhart claimed the 110 and 300 hurdles.

Elizabeth Kiblinger of Notre Dame won the girls 1,600 and 3,200, while Saxony Lutheran's Nicole Hemmann captured the 100 and 300 hurdles.

BASEBALL

Alex Crowe had a big performance to help the Red Devils bounce back from their first loss of the season, to Kelly on Monday.

Crowe belted a grand slam and doubled while pitching five innings for the victory. He allowed five hits and one earned run with three strikeouts and one walk.

Cody Payne finished with two perfect innings on the mound. He struck out two.

The visiting Red Devils (3-1) banged out 12 hits. Joining Crowe with two hits each were Payne, Alex Davie and Devon Yahn.

Dylan Koehler homered for Jackson (2-2).

Trevor Jaco doubled twice for the Indians. Clay Baker drove in three runs. Alex Bolen and Kyle James added two RBIs apiece.

Eddy pitched 3 2/3 innings in relief for the win. He allowed one run.

Denai Arnzen and Dana Thiele contributed three hits apiece.

Arnzen allowed just two hits to earn the win.
