Letter writers

Over the last few months several issues have provoked strong responses from members of the community. From the dress code issue in the Cape Girardeau School District, to the ongoing deer management discussion, to the national contraceptives coverage debate, among others, a number of individuals have made well-argued remarks on the Opinion and Perspective pages through letters to the editor and guest columns.

Many of the issues at stake are complex, often requiring an analysis from those with a particular expertise. These individuals, when arguing their points with fact-based reasoning, provide valuable commentary to the Southeast Missourian and its readers. To those who have courageously signed their name to such content, we say thank you.

Anyone with an opinion on an issue of local, state or national importance is welcome to write a letter to the editor. And we especially encourage those who have a strong background on a particular issue to consider this forum for commentary.

If you are interested in writing a letter to the editor, go to www.semissourian.com/forms/letter, send an email to letters@semissourian.com, or mail your remarks to:
