Boy rescued from bottom of embankment
Thursday, March 22, 2012
A 13-year-old boy was rescued by Scott City firefighters Tuesday night after being trapped at the bottom of a 75-foot embankment. Two young boys had been playing in the woods along an embankment off Lakeview Drive, north of Scott City, and found themselves unable to climb out, said fire chief Jay Cassout. One of the boys called his father, who helped him up, but the father could not rescue the second boy and called 911 for assistance about 6:30 p.m., Cassout said. It took firefighters about an hour to bring the boy up the bank using a rope, Cassout said. He sustained only minor scrapes and cuts.
