Cape Girardeau's riverfront

My husband and I love to go down to the Mississippi River and just watch the river and the barges. This week we were downtown at the river and walked the nice walk the city has provided. There was a nice lady down there with a bag picking up trash that some uncaring person or persons had just thrown down. If you want to have a pizza party down on the riverfront, at least have enough concern for the city to pick up your trash.

The city has to spend extra time painting over the wall where some have written nasty and ugly pictures and words that we who want to go and enjoy the riverfront have to try not to look at. And I was really disappointed at the places where someone or a group have made campfires right there on the place where the benches go. Don't people appreciate what the city has tried to have for our enjoyment? The city needs to install video cameras on the floodwall to catch those ungrateful people who have nothing better to do than destroy or deface public property. My mother used to say, "Fools names and fools faces always seen in public places."

Thanks, Cape Girardeau, for making a nice place to walk and sit and watch the river. It's appreciated.
