Recognizing Central dancers

Dear former members and sponsors of the Cape Girardeau Central Tiger Dancers and Pom Squad:Whether an alum or current member of the Tiger Dancers or Pom Squad, you are a part of a long-standing tradition at Central.

The Pom Squad began in 1974, a year after girls competitive sports returned to Central. The team was the second competitive girls organization. In 2002, the Pom Squad made the transition to the Tiger Dancers. The tradition of the dance team includes competing on the state and national level, running clinics for young girls, and, of course, performing at halftime. The dance team at Central High School continues to be a respected, competitive team, and it is an honor to be one of the Tiger Dancers.

If you have been fortunate enough to participate in this program, we are pleased to invite you to the recognition of the dance team alumni Feb. 4 as a part of our ongoing centennial recognition. We will recognize former members of the team before the varsity boys' basketball game against Festus starting around 7 p.m. The 2011-2012 Tiger Dancers will perform at halftime of the game. We would love to have you come home to Central.

LAUREL KASTEN, class of 2012,

senior dance team captain, Cape Girardeau
