Central basketball recognition

We members of the 1954 Class A State Championship basketball team would like to express our thanks and appreciation for being included in the 100-year centennial commemorations on going this year at Central High School.

A special thanks to Dr. Mike Cowan for the historical journey through the 100-year basketball history of Central.

A more memorable year of athletic success could not have taken place without the ongoing support of our classmates, teachers and school administrators. We dare not omit the support of the citizens of Cape Girardeau, who through their enthusiasm and encouragement, gave us that added boost away from the "courts of battle."

Our parents and especially our coach, Lou Muegge, deserve our thanks for keeping us focused toward the ultimate goal in high school basketball, the state championship.

We also remember those teammates who are no longer with us and those who were unable to attend the recognition last weekend. They will forever be a part of the 1954 Central High School Class A State Champion basketball team.
