She was born Aug. 6, 1920, in Wapakoneta, Ohio, to David Christian and Clara Croft Brorein. She and Wallace R. Knight were married Jan. 22, 1945, at Fort Campbell, Ky. He preceded her in death Sept. 9, 2006.
Knight was a member of Advance United Methodist Church in Advance, Mo. She was a 1937 graduate of Parma, Mo., High School. She graduated from Central Methodist College and received a master's degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She was elementary music supervisor 20 years with Poplar Bluff, Mo., School District. She was a world traveler, a lover of the arts and humanities and a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow.
Survivors include two sons, Wallace R. Knight II and wife Candace of Collierville, Tenn., David B. Knight of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Mary Miller of Jackson; a sister, Mary Margaret Abernathy of Cape Girardeau; six grandchildren, Nathan Knight (Melody) of Southaven, Miss., Megan Knight of Nashville, Tenn., Elizabeth Jo Knight of Ballwin, Mo., Alex David Knight of Denver, Colo., Aaron Foote (Sarah) of Gordonville, Andrew Foote of Macon, Ga.; six great-grandchildren, Nathan Robert Knight Jr. and Madilynn Knight; Ellie, Mia and Lila Ione Foote; and Colin Poarch.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a son-in-law, Richard E. "Dick" Miller.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Karen Tropf officiating. Private burial will be in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Humane Society of Southeast Missouri, Southeast Hospital Foundation, or the charity of one's choice.
