ULLIN, Ill. -- Ruby Pankey Warren, 91, of Ullin, formerly of Tamms, Ill., died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012, at her home.
She was born Nov. 2, 1920, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of the Rev. R.H. and Esther Ninswonger Pankey. She married Everett S. Warren on Aug. 7, 1937. He preceded her in death Oct. 24, 2001.
Ruby was a retired cook from the Cairo School District and St. Mary's Hospital in Cairo, Ill. She was known as the Tamms Avon lady. Ruby was a member of Sandusky Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Louise Harp of Tamms; a son-in-law, the Rev. Gueary Clendening of Niceville, Fla.; three grandchildren, Greg (Cathi) Harp, DeShawna (Clay) Rhode and Melody Steffens; six great-grandchildren; and a brother, Bill Pankey of Grand Haven, Mich.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Linda Clendening in 2010; infant children, Judy Ann Warren in 1952 and Billy Jo Warren in 1950; a son-in-law, Earl Harp in 2009; parents; and a brother, Bob Pankey.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Clark Short and Gueary Clendening officiating. Interment will be in Mound City National Cemetery.
