Cape Central High School Senior Elliott Berry, pictured here with his parents Dr. and Mrs. Danny Berry, was awarded the Student of Ethics Award at the Better Business Bureau TORCH Awards luncheon on November 30 in St. Charles MO. The $2,500 award is given to three students in the Southern half of Missouri and Illinois to assist the students with college expenses. The program called CHARACTERplus received 251 applications from the region. The nominees wrote essays on their community service, academics and other various achievements in addition to submitting transcripts and letters of recommendation. Elliott, current Cape Central FBLA president, District FBLA vice-president, and Cape Central Student Senate vice-president, plans to major in bio-medical engineering or pre-medical studies at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Elliott's business teacher at Cape Central High School, Theresa Taylor, nominated him for the award. Mrs. Taylor has been teaching business for more than 12 years and describes Elliott as a hardworking student whom she enjoys having in class.
