Weekend events

It's a busy weekend for Christmas activities and other events in Southeast Missouri. In between trimming the tree and wrapping presents, consider attending one or more of the fun activities taking place over the next few days.

Here are a few events:

* The Cape Girardeau Central High School Choral Department will hold its annual Madrigal Feaste at the high school tonight and Saturday. The dinner starts at 6:45 p.m. To make reservations, call 335-8228.

* Jackson High School is in the midst of its Madrigal Feaste festivities. Dinner performances will be held tonight and Saturday at the Bavarian Halle in Jackson. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. For more information, call 243-9513.

* Breakfast with Santa will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Osage Centre in Cape Girardeau. Ticket prices are $5 per child. However, two children can attend for $8 and three for $11. Adult tickets are $5 each. Funds raised will help support the Parks and Recreation Foundation.

* First Presbyterian will hold a live Nativity at the church, 235 Broadway in Cape Girardeau, Saturday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Chili, cookies and hot chocolate will be available in the church's fellowship hall.

* The Heartland Pops 2011 Christmas Show will be from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the Cape Girardeau Central Junior High School auditorium. Ticket prices are $12.50 for adults and $10 for students ages 6 to 12. Children ages 5 and under receive free admission. Two-time Country Music Association Instrumentalist of the Year Buck Trent will be the special guest performer.
