Shelba Jean Rees, 74, of Jackson left this earth to meet her Lord and Savior on Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011, with her family gathered around her.
She was born July 2, 1937, in Gideon, Mo., to Kelzy Robert and Anna Bell Boyd Ham. She and Carroll W. Rees were married Oct. 11, 1952, in Pocahontas, Ark.
Shelba was a charter member of the former Shepherd Baptist Church at Neelys Landing, and her passion was music. It was evident that faith and family were her life as seen by her devotion to her husband, children and grandchildren.
Loving survivors include her husband of 59 years, Carroll Rees; children, Barbara Palmer and husband Jim of Rolla, Mo., Debbie Sewing and husband Tom, Mark Rees and wife Rita, Sandy Eisenbeis and husband Dwight, all of Jackson; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother; and two sisters.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, three sisters and one granddaughter.
Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. until service time Sunday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jim Matthews officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Lung Association, Southeast Hospice or the Cape County Cowboy Church Prayer Posse.
Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
