High school roundup: Notre Dame volleyball team grabs title at Festus tourney

The Notre Dame volleyball team captured the Festus tournament title for the first time Saturday when it defeated Farmington 26-24, 25-22 in the title match.

Olivia Roth recorded 13 digs in the championship match to break the school record for digs in a season.

Brooke Bohnert had 15 digs, while Miranda Fowler added seven kills in the victory.

Dani Roosman had 13 assists, while Shelby Dix added 11. Kate Edwards and Myriah Bernard contributed six kills apiece in the win.

Notre Dame beat Lutheran South 25-15, 25-16 in the semifinals.

The Bulldogs defeated Sullivan 25-11, 25-15, and split with Farmington 25-20, 15-25 in pool play.

Notre Dame then beat Hillsboro 25-15, 25-20 to round out pool play.

The Bulldogs (22-7-1) defeated Webster Groves 25-14, 18-25, 16-14 in the first round of bracket play.

Farmington Invite

Notre Dame's Elizabeth Kiblinger won the girls race in 19 minutes, 14.18 seconds.

Breanna Conklin finished in sixth place for the Bulldogs, who took fourth in the team standings.

St. Vincent's Laura Steele finished 12th, while the Saxony Lutheran girls placed seventh.

Brandon Shemonia took second in the boys race for fifth-place Scott City.

Ethan Seyer placed ninth for Oak Ridge.

Cole Ross' 10th-place finish helped the Notre Dame boys nab second.

Central's Jordan Gramling won the 100 butterfly in 54.44 seconds to break his previous meet record.

The Tigers finished 11th out of 13th teams with 50 points.

Notre Dame finished ninth with 143 points.

The Bulldogs' 400 freestyle relay took fourth.

Dustin Parsons placed took fourth in the 100 butterfly and fifth in the 200 individual medley, while Alec Domjan was fifth in the 200 freestyle.

Jackson placed 10th with 69 points.

Kristian Troxel took third in the 100 butterfly in a state-qualifying time, and seventh in the 100 breaststroke for the Indians.

Saxony Lutheran finished 13th with 28 points.
