Commander eviction likely this weekend
Friday, October 7, 2011
Commander Premier Aircraft Corp. will likely be evicted today or Saturday, city manager Scott Meyer said Thursday. As of Thursday, the 10-day wait requirement expired, meaning the city could technically forcibly remove Commander from the city-owned hangar at the Cape Girardeau Regional Airport. But Meyer said that the Scott County Sheriff's Department was awaiting paperwork from the courts that would permit it to proceed with the eviction. Commander had not paid rent on the hangar since 2007, prompting legal action. On Sept. 25, the legal battle came to an end when a judge gave Cape Girardeau officials the go-ahead to evict.
