Steve Grah, 71, of Jackson died Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born Dec. 14, 1939, in Vidonci, Slovenia, to Stephen and Anna Kolman Grah. He and Bonnie Held were married Sept. 24, 1966, in Chicago.
Steve was a member of St. Mary Cathedral. He was a proud truck driver 33 years, and logged more than a million safe miles in Chicago and another million over-the-road safe miles for a total of more than two million miles without an accident. He then was a custodian at Oak Ridge schools five years. Steve loved to be in his garden and thoroughly enjoyed time with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Grah of Jackson; a son, Kevin Allen Grah of Jackson; a daughter, Stephanie McElmurry (Craig) of Piedmont, Mo.; three brothers, Walter Grah of Burbank, Ill., Frank Grah of Chicago, Slavko Grah of Ottawa, Ill.; six sisters, Elizabeth Andrejek of Cornell, Wis., Angela Kular of Vidonci, Valerie Guvo of Hickory Hills, Ill., Ana Jani of Willow Springs, Ill., Mary Cengic of Clearwater, Fla., Mariane Kelenc of Burr Ridge, Ill.; and three grandchildren, Hannah, Caleb and Sarah.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau. Parish prayers will be at 7.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Cathedral, with the Rev. Tom Kiefer officiating. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.
