Letter to the Editor

Tiger Stadium opens

"I have had many relationships with Tiger Athletics through my 35 years of association with the Cape Central High School athletic program: a student-athlete, a brother of an athlete, a father of male and female athletes, a son of a coach, an assistant coach, a head coach, and most of all, a loyal Tiger supporter. Just as in every part of our lives, while every day was not necessarily a great day, the good days far outnumber the bad days in Cape Central sports. At each stage of my "Tiger Athletic" life, I have not only learned invaluable life lessons, but have also formed relationships and bonds that are lasting because of my participation in athletics at Cape Central. As the longest tenured coach at Cape Central, I have found that Tigers' athletics has been, is, and always will be a vital part of the educational experience at CHS, and it has left an indelible mark on my life, as it has on so many others. GO TIGERS!!!" -- From "Alumni Perspective" by Steve Williams, Cape Central class of 1980, published in "Cape Central High School Centennial 1912-2012: 100 Years of Teaching, Learning, Caring!"

As we prepare to open Tiger Stadium and welcome a new chapter in our school's rich athletic history, I hope you will come watch the Tigers -- football, soccer and marching band -- on our home turf. If you are fortunate, you will catch a glimpse of a tennis match and a softball game in the adjoining fields.

STEVE WILLIAMS, Cape Girardeau
