Local Girl Scouts Attend Day Camp

Group Juggling @ Old McKendree Chapel

Fifty four Girl Scouts from Jackson, Cape Girardeau and Marble Hill joined together for a week long camp on July 11 at various locations in Cape County. Activities included fire building, outdoor cooking, and a camp out at Trail of Tears State Park, alternate sources of energy and recycling at Jackson Public Works, and Litz Park, crafts and old-fashioned fun at Old McKendree Chapel, and basic water rescue at SEMO's Aquatic Center. In addition, the girls gave back to their communities by picking up trash, sticks, and cleaning the chapel. While the older Scouts worked on leadership skills by leading groups, they also learned about careers in graphics design at Horizon Screen Printing and aviation at Cape Girardeau Regional Airport. The older scouts were treated to manicures, pedicures, and pizza for all their hard work. Twenty-two adults helped make this a successful, fun-filled learning opportunity for Girl Scouts of the Missouri Heartland.
