Illinois cooperative warns of power shortage today

The Southern Illinois Power Cooperative and its member cooperatives, including Southern Illinois Electric Cooperative, have put out an urgent request that members minimize their power consumption until 7 p.m. today.
According to a news release, the Midwest Interconnection System Operator has forecast a power generation shortfall and is requesting a usage reduction due to hot and humid weather.
The Southern Illinois Electric Cooperative has members in Alexander, Johnson, Massac, Pope, Pulaski and Union counties.
